Recently, I have been looking into what was so special about John Bonham
other than his penchant for Celtic grooves. The cymbals are Paistes of
course
Did you know that Andy Johns would get them to change the drum heads
every take? (Source: Alex Van Halen on the recording of F.U.C.K. with
Andy Johns) On top of that, they used the thinnest kik heads, and
obviously with the slackest tunings possible on a massive 28" kick drum.
Even Jason doesn't do this. Here is what it sounds like of course...
although that looks like a 26"...
